These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the AyahLab desktop application (the "App"), the AyahLab Pro subscription ("Pro"), and the ayahlab.com website (together, the "Service"). Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading or using the App, browsing the website, creating an account, or purchasing a Pro subscription, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. Before any purchase, you will be asked to explicitly confirm that you accept these Terms and our Refund Policy; you cannot complete a purchase without doing so. If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

AyahLab is a desktop application for deep Qur'an study. The core App is free, works fully offline, and does not require an account. AyahLab Pro is an optional paid monthly subscription that adds AI-powered study tools — an AI toolbar in editors, "Ask AI" on selections, ayahs, morphology, and manuscripts, in-app AI chat, and chat history that is encrypted on your device and synced across your devices. Pro is offered in more than one tier (currently Pro and Pro+), which differ in the AI models made available to you and in the usage allowances that apply, as described on our pricing page.

3. Accounts

The free tier requires no account. A Pro subscription requires an account so that your subscription and encrypted chat history can be tied to you. You agree to:

  • provide accurate registration information, including a valid email address;
  • keep your sign-in credentials confidential; and
  • accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, and at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction (or have a parent or guardian's consent) to purchase a subscription.

4. License to use the App

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App for your own study. You may not resell, redistribute, or sublicense the App, and you may not reverse engineer or modify it except to the extent such restrictions are prohibited by applicable law.

5. Pro subscription and billing

  • Pro is offered in monthly tiers: Pro at $12 per month and Pro+ at $50 per month (plus any applicable taxes shown at checkout). Current pricing for each tier is always shown on our pricing page and at checkout.
  • Payments are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record. Your purchase is also subject to Paddle's buyer terms, and your receipt and invoices come from Paddle.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep Pro access until then. When cancelling, you choose whether your cloud data is deleted immediately or retained for 3 months, as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • Refunds are handled as described in our Refund Policy.
  • If we change the subscription price, we will notify you in advance, and the new price will apply from your next renewal after the notice period.

6. AI features and fair use

Pro's AI features are subject to token allowances measured over rolling daily, weekly, and monthly windows, as shown on your account page. These allowances exist so the service stays sustainable; attempting to circumvent them, automate bulk requests, or otherwise abuse the AI features may result in throttling, suspension, or termination of your subscription.

AI responses are generated by third-party machine-learning models. AyahLab's AI features are currently powered by models from OpenAI. The specific models offered with each tier, and the allowances that apply to them, may change over time — for example in response to changes in our model providers' pricing, or to adopt newer or more capable models, whether from OpenAI or from other providers. We may make these changes at any time and will keep our pricing page up to date to reflect them. Any change to the subscription price itself remains governed by section 5.

AI output can be inaccurate or incomplete, and is not religious, scholarly, or legal authority. It is a study aid, not a substitute for the guidance of qualified scholars. You are responsible for how you use and share AI-generated content.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose;
  • probe, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' data;
  • share, resell, or pool account access to circumvent per-account AI allowances; or
  • use the AI features to generate content that is hateful, harassing, or otherwise harmful.

8. Third-party content and services

The App presents Qur'anic text, translations, morphology data, recitation audio, and manuscript images (including images served by Corpus Coranicum) that belong to their respective sources and are subject to their own licenses. The Service also relies on third-party providers — including Paddle for payments, Supabase for accounts, and AI model providers (currently OpenAI) — whose availability we do not control.

9. Privacy

The free App collects no personal data and works entirely offline. What little we store for Pro accounts — and how it is protected — is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

10. Intellectual property

The App, the website, and the AyahLab name, logo, and branding are owned by AyahLab's developer. Except for the license in section 4, nothing in these Terms grants you any rights in them. Your notes, bookmarks, and editor files remain yours — they are stored on your device, not with us.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AyahLab and its developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, or affects statutory consumer rights.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to Pro if you materially breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (including sections 10 through 12) survive termination.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this website, and the "Last updated" date above will change. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
